Sales review help

Self-review examples for sales professionals who need more than a scoreboard

A strong sales self-review shows more than whether you hit quota. It shows the deals you saved, the pipeline you rebuilt, the accounts you grew, and the team contribution that does not show up cleanly in one number. The goal is to make the quality of the work as visible as the result. If your role leans more toward renewals, adoption, and account health than pure net-new selling, use the customer success manager version too.

Pick the paid next step by timing

If your review is close and your wins are still scattered across CRM notes, Slack threads, and memory, start with the £24 prep kit. If the review is still weeks away and you need one place to capture receipts as the quarter moves, start with the £19 tracker. If you want the whole ladder first, open the comparison page.

If your review is tomorrow: start with the night-before review page. If you first need a place to gather deal saves, expansion wins, forecast calls, and enablement work, open the work accomplishments tracker page. If you need broader wording help after this, use the general self-review phrases page.

Use this sentence shape

I improved [revenue, pipeline quality, account growth, or team execution] by doing [specific sales work], which changed [close rate, forecast confidence, deal risk, expansion, or team effectiveness].

Sales reviews get lazy fast because everyone can see the quota number. But the number alone does not explain the messy quarter, the difficult territory, the rescue work on a risky account, or the process you built that helped other people close too. Your self-review is where that context belongs.

Five self-review examples you can adapt

1. Deal rescue

I recovered a late-stage deal that had gone quiet by rebuilding the buying path, pulling the right stakeholder back into the conversation, and giving the customer a clearer next step. That kept the opportunity from slipping out of the quarter and improved the team’s confidence in the forecast.

2. Pipeline quality

I got stricter about what counted as a real opportunity, cleaned up aging deals that were distorting the forecast, and spent more time on buyers with a live decision process. That made my pipeline more reliable and improved how I planned the quarter.

3. Expansion work

I stayed closer to existing accounts after the initial close, surfaced where needs had changed, and turned that into cleaner expansion conversations. That helped grow revenue without relying only on net-new pipeline.

4. Cross-functional selling

I improved the way I worked with product, onboarding, and customer success when a deal had real implementation risk. That cut handoff confusion and helped customers move forward with more trust in the plan.

5. Team contribution

I documented what was working in discovery and objection handling, shared the talk tracks with newer reps, and made it easier for the team to reuse what I was learning. That gave my impact a footprint beyond my own number.

What weak sales review copy sounds like

Weak

I worked hard this year, managed my pipeline, supported customers, and helped the team hit targets.

Stronger

I tightened pipeline quality, rescued a late-stage deal that was at risk of slipping, and worked more closely with onboarding on complex accounts so buyers could move with fewer surprises. That improved forecast confidence and helped protect revenue that could easily have fallen out.

Quick self-check before you submit

  1. Does each point show what you changed, not only the number you ended with?
  2. Would a reviewer understand the quality of your selling if your territory was harder than average?
  3. Have you shown at least one example of pipeline judgment, account growth, or cross-functional work?
  4. Did you include one growth area before somebody else chooses it for you?

Turn the examples into a review you can send

If the review is close, move into the £24 prep kit now. If you still need to capture receipts from the quarter, start with the £19 tracker and come back to the prep kit later. If the next conversation is promotion scope or a bigger role, use these examples as the bridge.
